I received my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Towson University.  This provided the foundation for understanding human behavior; how individuals think and establish their belief system.

I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work.  While working on my graduate degree I was an intern at the Patuxent Institution maximum security prison where I assessed and diagnosed inmates while using psychotherapy in individual and group settings to rehabilitate them.   I also interned on the Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Unit at Frederick Memorial Hospital where I assessed and treated a variety of patients exhibiting numerous types of mental illness, from depression and anxiety to severe chronic disorders such as schizophrenia, Bipolar and Personality disorders.

Private Practice

I enjoy meeting with clients in a comfortable setting and have carefully sought a location that is not only convenient, but calming as well. Individual therapy sessions run 50 minutes. During the first few therapy sessions I will provide a comprehensive assessment and together we will create treatment goals.

My career began working for Springfield State Hospital in the Psychiatric Admissions Ward.  At Springfield I worked as part of a treatment team caring for chronically mentally ill patients suffering from schizophrenia, mood disorders, personality disorders as well as severe depression and anxiety.

In 2006 I moved to the University of Maryland Medical Center, Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit where I worked in collaboration with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and nurses to stabilize and treat patients suffering from mental health and substance abuse/addiction issues. I conducted  mental health assessments and worked closely with patients to set up stable aftercare, linking them to resources within the community.  In addition, I lead a therapy process group three times a week for dually diagnosed patients covering mental health topics and substance abuse related concerns.  In 2011 I left the University of Maryland and currently see clients full time in my private practice.
